Job Vacancy - Paediatric Speech Pathologist

Position Description – Speech Pathologist

Talking Together Speech Pathology assesses and treats pre-school and early primary school aged children who are at risk of developing or who already demonstrate developmental delays and specific communication difficulties. You will be required to service a varied paediatric caseload, including speech, fluency, language, literacy and autism spectrum disorders (ASD).  At Talking Together Speech Pathology, you will be expected to provide services at the clinic, and when required or deemed more appropriate at clients schools, kindergartens and childcare.
Talking Together Speech Pathology deliver a high standard of professionalism and are committed to evidence-based practice, family centred approach and working collaboratively with other professionals who are involved with the clients seen.

Essential Criteria:

  • Membership with Speech Pathology Australia and eligibility for enrollment in the SPA self-regulation program.
  • A current drivers license, own car and mobile phone.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Current clear Australian National Police Check.
  • Must have own Professional Indemnity Insurance. 
  • Experience working with preschool and school age children – particularly in play based interventions. 
  • Knowledge and experience in the support of children on the Autism Spectrum and other developmental delays.
  • Proficient communication, organisational and computer skills.
  • Strong work ethic
  • Skills and experience in the assessment and management of common presenting issues.
  • Caring interpersonal skills and a flexible approach to responsibilities.

Speech Pathologist will be expected to;

  • Assess and diagnose clients with a range of communication disorders, including developmental delays.
  • Treat and manage a caseload effectively and ethically.
  • Work in the clinic and outside to schools/preschools/childcare.
  • Write reports in relation to assessments and Medicare requirements.
  • Support children with NDIS funding and comply with reporting requirements. 
  • Adopt a multidisciplinary approach in treating clients by working with teachers, OTs, psychologists and other health care professionals to achieve the best outcomes for clients and their families.
  • Able to handle difficult and challenging situations with flexibility and adaptability.
  • Extremely reliable with strong organisational and time management skills.
